2006 Lincoln Towncar - Strange noises

Car is making loud humming noise. Used to only hear the noise when I turned the car off. Now I hear it when I start the car and frequently while driving.

Does your chime come on when you put the key in the ignition? With the engine on, have you raised the hood to determine if you are hearing a noise from the engine?

Poking around a bit online... could be related to the Idle Air Control valve or a vacuum leak. Those seem most likely given questions people are asking about "towncar humming noises".
