Lights and electrical issues - '04 Ram pickup

In the last few weeks my driver's side rear signal light has become non-existent, I thought I had a burnt high beam on one side. but turned out to be something a little more confusing. I turn my lights on and get low beam on one side and nothing on the other. I switch to high beam and the opposite occurs. I purchased 2 new headlights today figuring that'd fix the issue. the exact same occurred. My buddy tells me it could be the body control module. Looking for some options before I start spending money for nothing again. please and thank you
