Would you buy a 2000 Grand Am for 1000?
My test drive was great. It's very well maintained with records to prove it.
It has 195,000 miles, small oil drip creates a quarter size stain inside of 15
minutes. There are records suggesting the head gasket has not been replaced,
which kind of scares me.

I'm replacing a 1995 Isuzu rodeo with blown head gasket and too many other
problems to fix.

Thanks for your input

I would not buy vehicle with a oil drip unless seller fixed problem
  • @productiongeek the oil drip is a concern but I think any car in the $1,000 budget range is going to have some sort of issue. It sounds like it is a nice car but you may want to have someone check the source of the oil leak. I know it isn't practical to spend $50-150 to have it inspected since that will be around 10% of the overall value of the car but an oil leak can be pretty serious. Lets say you buy it, you'll probably spend a decent amount of money on either a repair or adding oil to the car anyways. I think it would be worth the inspection first.
