2001 Tahoe 5.3 Litre with replaced Transmission having new transmission problems.
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe LS 5.3 Litre. I have only had to replace the transmission one time so far. However, now it will not change gears in drive or any other gear. I have to manually shift through all gears. I thought the transmission fluid might be low or that there might be an issue with the filter. I had the transmission flushed and had the it refilled of course. They also replaced the filter. Could this now be some type of transfer case issue?
Here is the really strange part. When I parked the Tahoe for the night there where no issues at all. When I came out in the morning,(after a major thunder/lightning storm overnight), every error light was on and I had the transmission problem, the 4 wheel drive stopped working, service engine light was on and ABS braking light was on. Could all of this have been from a lightning strike or some type of computer problem? I sure could use some help with this.
By the way, my dad retired with the GM radiator division at Harrison radiator in Buffalo after 32 years between the line and becoming general inspector. He always gave me crap for owning Toyotas so I finally got my 2001 Tahoe. I need to mention that it has just hit 220,000 miles. She has never missed any maintenance mile marker and has always had early or on time oil changes etc... I would love to get another 100,000 miles, but living in Colorado Springs my 4 wheel drive needs to be working and on point. I need the most reasonable solution I can find as I am fighting Cancer and not working hardly at all. Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia is what I have and my dad passed from Parkinson's February of last year aka 2016.
Thanks in advance! Randy
