Shifter light sanity check

I'm just making sure I'm not crazy.

Are the letters next to the shifter (like P, R, N, D) etc supposed to light up? Also, are any of the buttons in the lower dash area, like emergency lights, etc, supposed to light up as well?

The other night, I noticed that the whole area there seemed a bit dark.

If they are supposed to light up, is that just a fuse?

Not familiar with Mazda's but does it have a interior light dimmer that may have been messed with, perhaps by accident?

there is a $12 light bulb in the console. mine has gone out twice (2013 CX-5 w/56k)
