Hi sueesponte. It would be much easier for me to give you my opinion on this deal if you were to provide me with this van's selling price. Let me know what it is and I'll tell you what I think.

Hi pov55441. The dealer invoice price of a base 2009 Odyssey EX is $27,362. If one subtracts the available $2,500 dealer cash from that it drops to $24,862. That's very close to the $24,961 that you were quoted, making it a very attractive deal.

The dealer invoice price of an '09 Odyssey EX-L with RES but without navigation is $32,151, $29,651 after backing out the dealer cash. Again this is very close to the $29,750 that you were quoted making this a good deal as well.

You really shouldn't lease an Odyssey for 4 years. Not only is that a long time to be committed to one vehicle and the warranty will have long since expired when your vehicle is due to be returned, but Honda is not currently providing lease support on 48 month leases of this model. As a result, its 48 month money factor jumps from the special .00250 to .00305.

Hi cav25. Here's the information that you're looking for. Honda Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Honda Odyssey LX with 12,000 miles per year are .00250 and 52%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top aka "Super Preferred" credit tier.

The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a base '09 Odyssey EX are exactly the same.

Carman, Thanks for the information. Do you have any idea what may happen to the incentives, MF rates and residuals in June? I am considering signing for a lease now (EX-L, RES, 36 months, 15k/yr) or waiting until June. Either way I will probably be kicking myself.

    Thanks!

Hi, can anybody help me? I want to lease an Odyssey EX-L with RES and Navi for 36 mo. w/12000 or 15000 miles/yr. I'm located in So.Cal. I was quoted $520+tax (8,75%) with $ 3000 down. Is that a good deal? Sales price offered was $34000. Do you know what price should I pay for the vehicle, and what the money factor and residual are? I'd appreciate your help. thanks
  • medmdmdmedmdmd Member Posts: 41
I was told today the residual through Am Honda Finance on an EXL RES was 48% for 36 mos 12Kmi.
Do the residuals vary by region or dealership?

Is the $595 bank fee waived for existing Am Honda Finance Lease customers getting a new Honda Lease?
If not, is that fee ever waived?

Looking to lease 2009 EX-L with NAV and RES. 15k miles per year, 36 months, Zero down, only 1st month plus tag. I'm in south florida. What is a good lease price? What is the residual and money factor? I've been quoted $560 to $585 including tax. Is this a good price?
  • sahm2kgasahm2kga Member Posts: 11
We currently own a Honda Accord. Lease is up in Sept.
Called the dealership today- over the phone he quoted me $415 a month, 36 months, $0 down, 12K miles a year, buy out my current lease (2 months left).

We are in no hurry, but if the deal is right we will take it- so buying out my 2 months is no real incentive, as we are under miles on the Accord.

How much wiggle room do you think there is on this payment? We are going to go and meet with the salesperson on Saturday. Ideally I would like to be at $350 a month w/ $0 down- even possible?
  • john1005john1005 Member Posts: 2
I just got a quote on an EX-L lease, I want to know if this is a good deal or not. 3 years 36,000 mile, $455.00 a month with no money down. Walk out of the dealership only paying $722.00 to pay first month and new tag fee.
I want to know can I get the same deal adding the entertainment system?
Or how much more would that cost?
  • john1005john1005 Member Posts: 2
In south FL, end of the month, salesmen says this is the best he can do.
    Lease on an EX-L 3yrs., 36K, $0 down $455. inc. tax
I really want it with the DVD system, but he wouldn't for that price.
    What do you think?
  • sjtashsjtash Member Posts: 27
    Carman,

I gambled the June incentives would be better than the May incentives for an EXL w/ RES, 3 yrs, 15k per year.

    Did my gamble pay off?
  • sjtashsjtash Member Posts: 27
I received a call from a local Honda dealer on Long Island, NY about my search for a new Odyssey EXL w/ RES for a 36 month lease, 15k miles and tax, title, dmv and 1st pmt down. I requested additional information on the quote of $495/mo. The sales person gladly shared with me the residual, mf, and selling price. When I asked for detailed information about the incentives I was told it was a dealer incentive to be passed along to the consumer but we don't have to reveal it to you. I again pressed for the details of the incentive and the sales person stood by their previous statement. I told the sales person I was uncomfortable leasing from them if the deal is not completely transparent. Thats when the phone conversation concluded.

It suggests a less than honest and reputable establishment.

Has anyone ever heard of such tactics?

    Hi,

I live in LA/SoCal and I'm trying to figure out what is a good lease deal.

Honda has $269/mo on the basic LX model.

    What I would like is a 36 mo. lease, 12,000 mi/year on a EX-L w/NAV & DVD.

What sort of prices can I expect?

What are the residual and money factor on this? I believe the residual on the LX is 45% and 44% on EX-L at least that is what I thought I saw on the web site.

    I'm getting quoted the following:

2009 X-L w/Nav, Res MSRP $37,625 and he is willing to give it to me for $32,473

According to him it would work out as the following lease #'s:

    Total Drive Off - $1129
    Monthly Payment $538+tax

This just seems really high to me compared to the super low LX lease deal.

    Can someone PLEASE help?

I'm looking to close on a deal in the next 2 weeks. What I want is to find a lease deal that is close to $400 including tax but maybe that is a pipe dream.

Could I find an EX-L with no nav or res for under $400/mo lease?

    Ideas? Suggestions?

    THANK YOU!

    Maytal

I'm not really sure it matters that much.

The key question is not how much incentive the Dealer gets from Honda but rather, how much incentive the dealer will give to you.
  • sjtashsjtash Member Posts: 27
    Medmdmd,

I agree with you; however, they won't share with me how much incentive is passed along to me. They will only share the "selling price" which the lease payment is based upon.

I just signed a LX deal for 249, zero down. Drawback was only 3 color choices left in stock which was fine by me. No gimmick which I was expecting. I have notice some are starting to clear them out for upcoming 2010 models. I seen more deals on every trim lines.

i really love it even though its the base model. Its does what I want it for (hauling toddlers obviously).

I have been quoted the following prices on a 2009 LX and EX respectively.

    LX - $21,060
    EX - $23,681

If I did the math correctly using .0025 money factor and 52% residual for a 36 month $0 down lease, I come up with $318 and $364 respectively. I did add in about $600 for the lease origination and figured in the 6% sales tax on the payments in KY.

Carman, could you check these numbers and let me know if I missed something?

Here's the information that you're looking for, dolitsky. Honda Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2009 Odyssey Touring with 15,000 miles per year are .00250 and 51%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 36 month lease are .00250 and 44%.

When negotiating your lease on this van, make sure to take the $2,500 dealer cash that is currently available on it into account.

Hi cav25. While it's annoying, most dealers charge some sort of doc fee on deals. To be honest with you, a $100 fee isn't really that bad. Many dealers charge much higher doc fees than that. I always advise consumers to focus on the big picture when negotiating their deal. Look at the total price that you are being charged for the Odyssey that you want, including the doc fee. If you feel as though this van's total price is less than or equal to what you would have to pay for it elsewhere, it doesn't really matter how the price breaks down.

Hello siameses. Let's take a look at the selling price that you were quoted for the van that you are interested in. The dealer invoice price for a 2009 Odyssey EX-L with RES and Navigation is $34,139. If you subtract the available $2,500 dealer cash from that, it drops to $31,639.

If you are in an area that has a decent level of competition, I would be surprised if you weren't able to negotiate a lower selling price than the $34,000 that you were quoted. I personally would shoot for a selling price in the low $32,000s and see what happens.

As far as this van's lease program goes, Honda Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Odyssey EX-L with RES, Navigation, and 15,000 miles per year are .00250 and 46%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its "Super Preferred" credit tier. If you were to lease with only 12,000 miles per year, this vehicle's residual value would be 2% higher.

Hey medmdmd. Banks' residual values do not vary by region and individual dealers do not have the authority to alter them. They do however vary by trim level. The 48% residual value that you were quoted is correct for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Odyssey EX-L RES with 12,000 miles per year.

Good question, medmdmd. Unfortunately, I do not believe that Honda Finance waives its acquisition fee for current lessees who lease a new vehicle. I really don't think that Honda Finance ever waives its acquisition fee. You can either pay it at lease signing or have it added to your vehicle's selling price to bake it into your monthly payment.

Hi how713. Honda Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Odyssey EX-L with navigation, RES, and 15,000 miles per year are .00250 and 46%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top aka "Super Preferred" credit tier.

If I was in the market for this van right now, I personally would shoot for a selling price of around $500 over dealer invoice minus the $2,500 dealer cash that is available on it. That would be around $32,200.

Using this selling price and the aforementioned lease program, I come up with a zero down, pre-tax monthly lease payment of around $538.

Hi sjtash. To borrow a phrase from blackjack, your gamble was a push. Honda's incentives and lease program on the Odyssey are basically the same in June as they were in May.

Honda did introduce a dealer stairstep program on its trucks in late May that provides dealers who hit their sales target with up to an additional $1,000, but individual consumers will never know if the dealer that they are working with has qualified for this car. At least this program will make many dealers more motivated to move some iron as quickly as possible.

Hi cfkid. I would be happy to crunch some numbers to check the ones that you came up with for you. However, in order for me to do so I need you to provide me with both the MSRPs and selling prices of these vans. You only mentioned the latter. Post the MSRPs for me and I'll double check the payments for you.

    Hi folks,

Can any of you please tell me if I am getting a decent deal here for a 2009 Odyssey EX.

I negotiated a lease price of $399 for a 36 month lease with 15K miles/year and 0 down. When I take possession of the car, I was told that the only thing I need to pay for is the plate cost which is about $156 in MI. The first payment of $399 will be 30 days form the time I take the car and in total there will be 35 payments.

Is this a good deal? Thanks

    Phani
  • khanectionkhanection Member Posts: 20
Hi Phani119... this price sounds impossible. What is the vehicle sale price?
  • medmdmdmedmdmd Member Posts: 41
You can get that information elsewhere if your dealer can't/won't share it.

You already know from Edmunds that Invoice for this model (including destination) is $32,151
    AND
you know the dealers get a $2500 incentive.

The big question is how much YOU pay for the car.

In East Coast metro areas you might be able to get below 10% under invoice if you have no color preference and the car is in stock.
With hold backs and other behind the scenes motivators, the $2500 incentive is clearly only part of the picture for some dealers.

Again, I'm not sure what the dealer passes on to you really matters if you get the car for the lowest possible price.
  • medmdmdmedmdmd Member Posts: 41
Unless it is a teaser quote BEFORE taxes and fees are added.

    What state is s/he in?
  • phani119phani119 Member Posts: 4
    State is MI.
I believe the sale price is $23,7XX. I already paid the $ 500 deposit yesterday so the delaer could bring the car in for me today.

Initially the dealer said I had to take what was in stock. My wife liked silver and the dealer did not have it. Later he called and said he could get a silver. If everythign works out, I will be driving with it today. I also have the purchase agreement from the delaer.

Since I am transferring my title, it is a sign and drive thing. Do not have to pay even a penny and the first of 35 payments will be 30 days from today.

    Will keep you all posted.

I am ready to lease an Odyssey with RES, 36 mos, 15k miles/year. I've received quotes from various dealers on Long Island, NY. The specifics of this deal are as follows:
    Sales price (w/ $2,500 incentive) - $29,200
    Residual - 46%
    MF - 6%

This seems to be the best I can do and others will not match the deal. I've already leased a new Pilot from this same dealer, there were no gimmicks, bait and switch or other sales tactics. Once in the dealer the transaction took about 25 mins.

    Hi Carman,

Is this considered a good lease deal?

Honda Odyssey EX-L(no Navi & no DVD)
Total drive off is $964 and monthly payment is $456 plus tax at same 36months and 12K/miles per year.

Or $1964 drive off and $427 plus tax 36 months and 12k/miles per year.

2009 model and price is $28305.00 MSRP is $33825.00 and invoice is $31005.34

    Does this look right?

Any way you think I can get the payments closer to $400?

    Thanks,
    Maytal

    Hi Maytal

My business partner was just offered the EX-L with DVD for 466.00 Plus 6% Fla Tax.

I would not do the 1964 down because there is no benefit to you.

From what I understand it will be tough to get the car close to 400.00 a month. I will post if I see otherwise.

    Thought I'd share with you:
    EX-L with DVD 36 month Lease, 12K:
$1,000 down, $474/month. Including IL/ chicago high tax.

Not sure if this is the best we could have done, but it is alot better than what was offered us a month ago. Old lease was up, so we had to pull the trigger.

ETA: I'm trying to recall selling price. $28,400 I think. I can check my notes if anyone wants to know.

I had a lease deal completed yesterday. I started talking with salesman at 2:30pm and picked up the new Odyssey EX at 5pm. That's was a quick deal. Lease details are as following.

    Model : Odyssey EX
Drive-off cost : $1,500 incl. registration, bank fee, first month payment etc
    Monthly : $383 incl. NJ tax(7%)
    Miles : 15,000 / year

Not the best but I think this is a decent deal for 15K/year and within 2 hr period.

    Hey Carman,

If I am looking at a 2009 Touring no pax with a selling price of $34,000 in NYC, what should the payment be for 36 months 12,000 mile and 0 down , bank fee rolled inot payments ?

Also, are you able to calculate how much the payment would be if I were to roll sales tax (8.375%) into the payments as well ?

    Carman -

Your feedback please. Seeking EX lease, 3yr, 12k, no $ down. The two best offers I have on the table now are:

    1. $350 plus tax, which would push monthly payments to $374.50; and
    2. $340 plus tax, which would push monthly payments to $365.50.

Between the two, the answer is clear. However, from a mkt perspective, I will apprciate yours (or any of the other posters as well) feedback. Cheers!

    Hi,

If Carman or someone can respond as soon as possible and let me know if this is a good lease deal:

    2009 EX-L deal from a SoCal dealer -

YOUR EXCLUSIVE INTERNET PRICE IS*: $ $27,882.00 + Fees
MSRP ON THIS VAN IS $33,865 - SO YOU ARE SAVING $5,983 WITH ME

Here's how the Lease comes out-36 MONTHS 12,000 MILES PER YEAR-
    $ 365.56 + Tax with $3,680 due at signing.

I want to keep the payments under $400 so the downpayment is high, is this a good price on the van?

I have to close by Monday to get this deal since they want to move these out by the end of the month so I want to know what everyone thinks.

I have a month to month lease right now until december so I'm just wondering if I should close on this or if maybe I wait till december honda may have better lease deals.

    Thanks,
    Maytal

you need to get the money factor
and the breakdown of $3,680 due at signing
Also ask about the detail of "+ Fees"
