2014 Rogue Hatch Strut Failure

The left hatch strut on my 2014 came loose where it attaches to the hatch. The strut fell and hit the tail light, breaking off a part of it. Fortunately, it is under warranty and dealer will have parts tomorrow (he says).
The strut attaches to a small ball on the hatch door and this is where it came loose.
Has this happened to anyone else? Makes we concerned about the durability of the parts - and the other side.
