car will turn over but will not start please help!!!!

i was driving my car on the freeway all of a sudden my car started slowing down on its own i got off on the side of the road and it turned off, when i try to start it the car will turn over but will not start.

18 yo vehicle could be any number of things, likely have to get it scanned to see what code might be there and what they point to.
