2003 Saturn vue wont start

Battery is new and car still would turn over but not start. Its the security syastem. I found out that if you hold down the unlock button on your key fob all your emissions will light up and the car will start. I have been fighting this for months untill i just figured it out yesterday. Now the car starts right up.
