I have to update my posting. I made a change to my order and now I am getting the 20 inch wheels. I did delete the power rear window. I think the defrost in the rear window makes more sense than a power rear window. I should get the truck about the middle of April. Looking forward to it.

Here's the money info on my ordered Denali.
Options, 20 inch wheels, heated steering wheel, cargo rails, and audio system with navigation.
Total price $43250. List is $46665
Traded in a 04 Sierra - 47000 miles, 4wd, extended cab, SLT, sport side bed. They gave me $19500.
I guess this isn't to bad. I don't mind paying the difference and the dealer is makin some money too. Dealer is even giving me a car to drive so that the miles will be under 50 thousand on my trade. They aren't even charging me anything for the loaner. I just expected they would try to make every dollar they could. Seem like a good enough deal to me. TSully

    I guess that's not a bad deal. :)

The GMC website is now listing the new 2007 Denali Sierra and lists available accessories etc.

I note they have various 20" wheel options but only show one type?
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
Yes they have several different ones but only one kind from the factory. I believe the others are dealer installed. I am trying to remember from my salesman. They had several at the dealer with different prices. I called my dealer Saturday and had him order the sunroof as well. So I started with out the sunroof, without the 20's but had everything else. Now I have the roof and 20's. I hate to say this but watch gas go above $3 bucks a gallon. It'll cost $75 bucks to fill that thing up and thats once a week.
Oh well. I want the truck!

Thinking about getting a 2007 Chevy 4wd crew cab probaby the LT2 package. I'm wondering with the 5.3L you can either get the 3:42 rear or the 3:73. Which rearend is the best ratio. I know the 4:10 are low gears and be better for pulling, but I don't tow a helluva lot. I hear the new Tundra has a 4:10 and a 4:30 those type of gears just sound too low. I was just wondering if the higher gears were better for gas mileage. Thanks for any info.

Wow I can't wait until I can actually post a review of my new Sierra Denali. I ordered one a couple of weeks ago. The dealer is letting me change things at the last minute. Anyway found out it won't arrive until end of April. This gave me some time to shop around. I did. Worked out ok for me as well. Had another dealer work me out a deal. He didn't know about the first one. Appears I was paying to much to original dealer. So I let him know. So this is what is happening now. Truck is enroute to another dealer. My dealer will do a dealer trade. Truck lists for 48470. Now since I will be purchasing before April 3 I can get some available incentives. 1000 bucks for owner loyalty, 1000 bucks for March Madness(didn't know that existed until I contacted the other dealer) and 48 month 3.9 financing.
So all this worked out and I ended up with the dvd player for only 75 bucks (that extra 1000 dollar incentive paid all but 75 bucks of the dvd player). So here is what I am getting now. 2007 Sierra Denali, all wheel drive, 20 inch wheels, sunroof, heated steering, and navigation. List price of 48470 minus my trade of 19500 (04 slt extended cab 4wd, sportside bed). Then minus 2000 dollars incentives, then minus 2870 that the dealer came down. The truck costs me 24100. Starting out at 48470 and ending with 24100 looks real good to me. I can't wait until I can give a first impression! I think we all know what it will be though.
    See ya Troy

Between the two ratios, I'd pick 3.73. It's a good all-around 1/2 ton truck ratio. The fuel consumption will be about the same as the 3.42 (maybe only slightly worse on the highway, unloaded, but better around town or when pulling/loaded). I've had all three ratios (among others) and I've never regretted having a ratio too low (including 4.10). I was slightly disappointed with 3.42 after having the same truck (1500 5.3 4x4) w/3.73, and terribly disappointed one time with 3.08 (never again).

I'm glad to see they're offering this ratio again on the 1500.

I just traded in an 05 silverado with the 3.42 for an 07 1/2 ton with the 3.73 rear axle. I have 3500 miles on the 07. The gas mileage with the 3.42 was 17 overall and on highway trips approaching 20 mpg. The 07 with the 3.73 has yet to reach 16 mpg. On a highway trip, using cruise control at 70 mph in Central Minnesota (no mountains) the active fuel management (4 cylinder) mode did not ever come on. My mileage for the trip was 15.3.

I like the truck but do not like the gas mileage.

    dagolfer,

What engine do you have in your 07? Also, be patient, I have heard that the mileage gets better after complete break-in around 5-7K miles. I only have about 300 miles on my 07 Sierra with the 6.0 and I averaged 14.1 all city driving on my first tank. And the AFM does kick in, but only while coasting or on a flat road with no acceleration. I am not expecting AFM to have any significant impact on my overall mileage, but I don't care, I didn't buy a truck for mpg, I bought it because I need a truck.

Enjoy your new truck, it is the best one out there. You made the right choice.

Been looking at this on paper. So far seems like a nice truck. Have to see how my Armada tows my 9000lb cigarette boat. If it doesn't tow it the way I like, I'll be upgrading to the 2500HD w/Duramax.

Anyone have thoughts on what a Loaded SLT 2500HD w/Diesel is going for? I'm guessing like $45k+

  • vmax2007vmax2007 Member Posts: 46
Can an Armada really tow 9000 lbs? I doubt it, not for very long anyway. I'd go with the 2500HD. And a loaded SLT with diesel will be WELL over $50k. Probably closer to 55-58k.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
9100lb towing is the rating on the Armada.

I priced out a loaded 2500HD SLT and the dealer invoice with delivery came to about $47.5k

Anyone with the DVD and the Navigation, how are they compared to aftermarket? Worth it?

I just took delivery of my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado LT1 Crew Cab on friday. Has the 5.3 AFM Flex Fuel engine in it. VERY impressed with everything on this pickup. The fit and finish and overall quality is top of the line. I live here in North Dakota, first trip on the road, put on 225 miles and averaged 17.5 mpg. Was very surprised with all the negative things about fuel mileage that I have been hearing. This was done with the cruise set on 70 mph for 150 miles and 75 mph on the other half of the trip. AFM kicks in if you are on a real level road and mileage bumps to 23-25 mpg. GM hit this one out of the ballpark in my opinion. Toyota has its work cut out. Anyone that drives one of these new Silverado's or Sierra's will NOT be disappointed. Give them a shot.

Congrats on your new pickup. I couldn't agree with you more.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
You do know that you should NEVER use cruise control on a car with under 1000 miles on it. You need to vary the RPMs for the first 1k miles and not rev over 4k with it during break-in. :(

    -mike
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
Huh ? Who told you this hawg-wash ? Break in is 500 miles and I've never heard anyone ever tell me to not use my cruise control during break-in. :confuse:

    Rocky
  • nascar57nascar57 Member Posts: 47
I also have never ever heard this about using the cruise control. Although I do know about the deal regarding not revving over 4k. Would like to hear more about this little idea about the cruise control.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
You are supposed to vary the throttle during breakin. That's what I've read everywhere and that's what I've done. Constant RPMs has the rings seat in-properly due to constant RPMs. Cruise control has you at constant RPMs.

    -mike
  • nascar57nascar57 Member Posts: 47
But even if you were driving a trip such as I have been, if you were not using cruise control, your RPMS wouldnt be varying too much since you would be right at the speed limit most of the time. Town driving and getting up to speed do give you some variation in RPM ranges.
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Right you aren't supposed to do extended highway trips during the break-in period usually the first 1k miles or so.

I didn't know GM had different combustion engines than the rest of the world. IIRC they actually still have pushrod engines... :)

  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
Well 1K break in period ? No cruise control driving, Come-on. It's not like these engines are that touchy. I've always have gotten on my engines a little bit after I got a couple of hundred miles on it. This isn't the 1960's :P

When will the first 2007 Denali's be delivered. Also did they do away with the 4 wheel steering. What other features did they dump from the older models.
  • bumperdudebumperdude Member Posts: 19

    Mine is at the dealer!
I heard that the rail strike caused a delay and the auto delivery company went bankrupt causing massive delays!

2007 GMC SIERRA SLT Crewcab with the 6.0, 3.73 rear end, 20" wheels, HP suspension pkg, sunroof, side airbags, basically everything except Nav and DVD. My first impression? Absolutely AWESOME truck. Awesome power, fit and finish is unmatched and overall this is the classiest truck ever built. GM hit a homerun with this baby. Anyone else have any opinions? Impressions?

Unbelievable how many Bells and Whistles this thing has. Rainsense wipers, heated washer fluid, heated electrochromic (drivers) side mirrors, the list goes on and on....
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
I keep reading about everyone else taking delivery and how impressed they are. I can't wait until next weekend. I ordered one about a month or so ago. The dealer found one en route with just one difference from what I ordered and we are installing that as aftermarket for same price. I'm getting the Sierra Denali. Wow......!!!! I am excited!
By the salesman finding one en route I will be able to take advantage of the incentives. If I wait till after April 3 then we don't know what will be there. And my build date has been pushed back twice and looks like the truck wouldn't even be here until May. So this next week should pay off for me! Next weekend I will finally be able to post my first impression...........Se ya..Troy

    Troy,

Wow, you have every right to be excited. I debated waiting and springing the extra 5K for the Sierra Denali, but the limited color choices ultimately killed that idea. Black is a great color, but too hard to keep clean. If I could have gotten steel gray I may have gone for it. White and Silver are not my favorite colors. What color are you getting? You'll love that truck, I guarantee it!!! 10x nicer truck than the over-hyped Tundra.

I have had black, your right, to hard to keep clean. I have a 300 foot gravel drive. To much dust. Silver, well I traded a silver birch metallic for this Denali. So you can guess what's left to choose. Yep! White. I looked at some left over Denali's that were white and I thought they looked pretty sharp. I was going to order the steel grey Sierra like you did. After all the options I chose on the thing I thought about the Denali. It wasn't to far off price wise and I didn't know about the 2000 dollar incentives. So factor that in and Denali bound I was. Can't wait to feel that 6.2l motor.. Troy
  • jimseversjimsevers Member Posts: 22
Mind if I ask what you are paying for it? What options you are getting?

When all was said and done, I figured the Denali would have cost me about 5K more with the same options (Sunroof and 20" wheels). Probably worth it too since it has the 6.2l and the 6 spd tranny. Other than that, my loaded SLT with the sunroof and 20" wheels has everything except the NAV and rear DVD.
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
I paid 42042. I traded an 04 4wd extended cab slt 5.3. They gave me 19500. I'm even getting 3.9 for 48 months on the left over. The Denali has 20 inch wheels, nav, heated steering wheel, sunroof, luggage racks, and cargo rail system. List was 47300 so they did come down some. I think I should have received more for my trade though. I'm also going to get that GM extended warranty. My factory warranty will be extended to the 5 year 100 thousand mile powertrain warranty. I checked out this warranty and it really is the best one you can get for the price. I am paying 1400 for the warranty. Lots of bells and whistles on this truck so I feel that's a necessary expense. Troy
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
How do the numbers compare to your deal? Just curious.
I can't wait until there is some aftermarket stuff for this motor. My last truck I put on the gibson exhaust, K and N filter. It did really improve my mileage....as long as I kept my foot out of it. I was averaging between 17 and 18 mixed driving out of that 5.3. I do expect less out of this 6.2. But it does have the 6 speed tranny. Those two overdrive gears should help some. But I didn't get the thing for mileage!!!!!!! Troy
  • jimseversjimsevers Member Posts: 22
Great deal!!! I was pretty much right on. Assuming the 42K was after the 2K in rebates, right? I paid 39K - 2K rebates = 37K.
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
The rebates made it work for me. That was enough for me to say let's order it now!!
  • jimseversjimsevers Member Posts: 22
Ditto. But keep in mind, the rebates and incentives will continue and may even get better later in the year. But as long as your happy with your deal and the truck, that is all that matters, right? At least you didn't fall for the Tundra hype and buy one of those. The Denali is in a completely different league.
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
And I'll be the first around here to have a Sierra Denali.
And really, is there a best time to buy one? Later in the year incentives will be higher, my trade lower. And I don't want a lot of people at my house to buy my truck (if I were to sell it outright). I won't ever buy a foreign made truck.
They just won't be able to keep up in all the areas. Now, a car... I do have one of those pilots(my wife's car). Happy with that one.
  • jimseversjimsevers Member Posts: 22
I agree completely. The best time to buy is when you are happy with the deal and are getting what you want. Period.
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
I was also afraid of the rebates probably staying the same or even increasing on the Sierra's. But felt that since the Denali was just coming out GM may back off the incentives on those for a couple of three months. So I am taking advantage while I can. Troy

I'll try and post next Saturday evening. I'm looking forward to it. Troy
  • jimseversjimsevers Member Posts: 22
When are you getting it? Believe me, you are going to LOVE it!!!
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
    Dealer says Saturday..
  • tsullytsully Member Posts: 30
as long as the dealer trade goes ok. The other dealer gets the truck on Wednesday. Then my dealer trades for it. They are getting the one I ordered. Troy

Good luck and be sure to post as soon as you get it. Start counting the days now...tick, tick, tick..

    Bye for a week.....
  • skytop1skytop1 Member Posts: 106
Today is 4 weeks since the order for my Denali Sierra was accepted. How long did it take to receive your Denali from the order date? Anyone use the $1000. rebate and 0% loan rate ? Satisfied with the truck? Thanks for the info!
  • jimseversjimsevers Member Posts: 22
    Skytop,

How long did they tell you? I have heard about 8 weeks for the Denali. But I am not sure. One thing I can tell you is....it will be worth the wait!!! I certainly cannot blame you for be anxious.
