I don't know about Tesla being so worried about the Bolt. Yes, in Niebuhr's rational eye, the Bolt is legitimate competition to the Model3. But car sales are more emotional than that. They also hinge on awareness and perception and associations as much as they do on stats and actual performance. The entire country is talking about Tesla and awareness of the Model 3 is high given that it's not going to be widely available until next year. The Model 3 is associated with the legendary Model S in the eyes of the public. The Bolt is associated with the Volt (because they rhyme?) and the Spark EV, if anyone knows what that is. We will see but I'd be surprised if the Bolt causes many sleepless nights at Tesla.

I would buy a Chevy Bolt over the Tesla M3 because of the dealership. I want a runabout for short trips shopping and eating out. Too few places to get service. None where I am moving in Nevada. GM dealer is only 2.5 miles from home. It think Tesla is a long ways from delivering on their promises. VW has already said they are holding off as there is not enough raw materials for batteries. The children mining cobalt in Africa need to work more hours. So many dirty little secrets behind the EV story.
