Need help deciding which car to buy

I owned a Lexus GS300 '99 for 18 years, but recently its been breaking down frequently and it seems to have come to the end of its lifespan. I'm now looking to buy an offroad/crossover SUV, but I'm having trouble deciding which one to buy.

Some things I'm looking for:

-Camping (elevated mattress in back)

-Offroad capabilities (mainly dirt roads and beaches)

-Storage for surfboards and camping supplies

-Enough space for 2 people and a dog

What company or car would be the best overall for these things?

Hello @sneakysnek Thank you for reaching out to Edmunds! I believe the two best vehicles to look at are the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Toyota 4Runner.

They both can support a mattress in the back, have great off road capabilities, available roof-racks for storage and more than enough room for two people and their dog. You can read our expert reviews on both with the links below.

I believe you will find both are more than capable, but I suggest test driving both and seeing which is a better fit.
