Car Buying Advice--How much to negotiate off the MSRP - 6% or more ????

I really liked this car and its configuration -

2018 Audi Q5 2.0T Premium Plus : Ibis White / ATLAS BEIGE
Premium Plus Package + Navigation Package + Cold Weather Package
19" Wheels
Audi Beam-Rings
Audi Guard All-Weather Mats
Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound System
Black Privacy Trunk Cover
First Aid Kit
USB Cables

For above configuration dealer's MSRP is $52,660 Plus extras listed below -

1. Processing Fee - $599
2. Plates/registration - $61
3. Bank Fee - $895
4. Sales Tax - $2K Plus

I am first time buyer, i am doing as much research i can for good price, so far looks like i am seeing that 6% off of the MSRP is recommended to negotiate. Can someone suggest what should be the good price for this config?

What are these except Sales Tax i should negotiate to, should i be paying Processing Fee, Bank Fee?

Hi @PJ_1980, I'm seeing the average discount in Virginia region to be around 5% at the moment on a 2018 Audi Q5 Premium Plus with that packaging. Are you purchasing or leasing?

If you're purchasing, you should only be paying the Processing fee (a.k.a the documentation or dealer processing fee). There shouldn't be a "bank fee" on a purchase. On a lease, the bank fee is called the "acquisition fee" and is a normal fee (although we dislike it). You can check out our article on fees here

I would start at 8-9% off MSRP knowing the dealership will counter negotiate. 6% off MSRP would be a good deal at this point in time.

Sales tax is calculated off the sales price and technically you can "negotiate" on it but really what you're doing is just negotiating the sales price on the car to offset the tax.

I would shop at least 2-3 Audi dealerships and have them compete for your business. It can get competitive!
