Car juststopped running

. I had a habit of running car until complete emplety and there was times when it would at a stop light just stop running (trash in tank theory). Other issue. It leaks oil in to back round seal and my brother had to replace that rely that regulates the firing. What is the name of that rely. and as many possabilities as possible. I am on disability and can onlu do so much. I am the old type mechanic anything under 84 I know. this new spagetti car I hate working on cars and iI have to learn it know.
