2017 CX-9 Smart City Brake Support/ SBS

Is there a way to tell if these systems are working or what I may be doing wrong? I have had multiple close calls (some on purpose to test) and I have gotten no response for either of theses things. I had to intervene or else I would have crashed. IIHS rated these systems to have a complete stop under 25mph and I have yet to see any result.
