    I agree that there aren't likely any long term issues now that they fixed their screw-up. Something coming loose? No way! Re-read my post above and process it. Their sloppy work could've killed my family, end of story. We are very lucky.

    Killed your family? Cars die all the time, every day, for a multitude of reasons. One breakdown is not life or death.

    I didn't see your 2nd post. This wasn't a Ford/Lincoln screwup - it was a dealer screwup. The defect itself wouldn't affect driveability.

    I'm not aware of any safety guidelines for successfully navigating a 20 lane highway when your car locks up at 70 mph and acceleration, brakes, and steering are all lost. Generalizations made on assumptions and too few facts are not what I was looking for. Regardless, I appreciate the effort.

    Where on the fuel gauge did the level indicate? Full, Empty, or in between?
    Accumulating miles on the odometer without being sensitive to other indicators that would hint "been quite a while since I filled up". may have contributed to your sudden stop.
