I think your DEF cost claim is off tenfold: "The Titan also required regular fill-ups of diesel emissions fluid. Over the course of our test, we added nearly 31 gallons of the stuff, at a rate of about $1 per gallon."

Ahem, even if you buy DEF at the pump, e.g. a commercial truck stop, it will cost more than $2.50/gallon. Given how often Edmunds bought it in jugs (via Amazon) with the correspondingly-higher price, I think you meant to say that you paid about $10/per gallon for DEF, which this Titan abomination thirsts for like Instagrammers seek attention.

IMO, the Edmunds wrap-up comments skew much too complimentary; this truck is a solution to a non-problem. If you need to haul and tow a lot, then a real heavy-duty (3/4 or 1-ton) truck is the recipe. They will cost about the same as the Titan XD (except now that Nissan is being crushed by poor sales they are taking more than $10k+ off MSRP), so who knows..., and they are WAY more capable, and will get at least the same fuel "economy".

Nissan failed, badly, with their long-overdue Titan redesign. Good riddance to this King Lemon.
