Agreed, and that is still racing. Not like a team mate letting Shumacher pass him just before the finish of a race so he would get the driver points.

But I don't think he would take out the Camry he might push him a bit to unsettle him and see what he was made of.

Did someone reference the Leopold & Loeb case in a discussion about NASCAR? :confuse:

Question 2: If he was still in his #3 Chevy coming off turn four at Daytona running 2nd behind a Camry with a Ford Running 3rd, and a Dodge in 4th, would he purposefully take out the Toyota and possibly let the Ford and Dodge pass him just to keep the Toyota out of the Winner's Circle on it's debut? I believe he would.

I would only hope so. I'm suprise someone didn't say that the UAW would make sure it happens this way. :surprise:

Well as funny as it might sound, I'm sure Gordon and Bumphardt Junior would plow them into turn 4's wall. :D

Racing teams are left with precious few big-name drivers and a lot of question marks.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Toyota's entry into NASCAR Nextel Cup Series racing featured mediocre performance and a rules-violation controversy as stock-car Speedweek activities got the green flag at Daytona International Speedway.

Is Toyota, trying to cheat to win the "Great American" Race ? :surprise:

"Is Toyota, trying to cheat to win the "Great American" Race ?"

Well, Matt Kenseth's car (FORD) was found to have a violation, and his crew chief was suspended. Infractions were also foung on all 3 Evernham Motosport cars (DODGES), and those 3 crew cheifs were suspended.

I wouldn't say Toyota is trying to cheat...I think a lot of teams, regardless of make, try to push the envelope.

Well he (Waltrip) was caught cheating or perhaps somebody working for Toyota ?......Just heard it 30 seconds ago on our local news. ;)

Actually, it is unclear as to who exactly put the "unknown substance" in the engine. And, as I pointed out earlier, 1 Ford, and 3 Dodges were also found with violations as well, so this is not an issue specifically about Toyota cheating.

Anyone familiar with NASCAR knows that most of the teams try to push the envelope, and the brand (Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Dodge) has nothing to do with that. It has more to do with the actual employees of the race teams, and what they are willing to try.

The name only, but then that's the way it has been for years. Just thought it was funny the way some people were raising a stink about Toyota coming on board and lo and behold they are the only one making the car in the US.

How about they run like they name it?

National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing :P

I realize that the "stock" part left a looong time ago, but a series that pitted actual production vehicles against one another is something I would find interesting, and would certianly result in REAL "bragging rights"

Hasn't all racing changed to the point it might as well be just Spec. car racing? The SCCA has some stock classes. But how long do any cars stay stock once they get into a class?

Petty Motorsports cuts due to Chrysler bankruptcy (Philly.com)

"RPM is in the final year of its contract with Dodge, and the team is widely believed to be trying to negotiate a switch to Toyota in 2010."
