Transfer Case Leak

2006 Jeep Liberty. A few weeks ago, I noticed a grunting sound coming from underneath my car. It makes a grunting noise only when I'm accelerating from 50-55 and then it goes away. I looked underneath and noticed that the transfer case has a leak somewhere. Would this be the issue to the grunting noise? Any ideas?
