I am working on my 1995 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4, V6 4.0 OHV. I am trying to determine if the only the sensor can be replaced on top of the Camshaft Synchronzier assembly. When I search for the Camshaft position sensor online or at a parts store I come up with a black cap replacement with the wire harness that plugs in horizontal. The synchronizer on my truck has a metal plate on top with a small alignment window and a vertical wire harness plug. I can not find a replacement part that looks like the one on my truck, unless I purchase the entire synchronizer. Even the parts pro's are confused about this because the sensor replacement doesn't match the synchronizer replacement when searching this truck. Any help would be appreciated.

You really should replace the sensor and pedestal as an assembly. The bushings wear in the pedestal portion which causes the vane to wobble and eventually contact the sensor and ruin it.
