Transponder Key for 2007 Outlander

I have a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander which I just purchased a few days ago. It came with 2 remote fob keys, where the physical key is hidden inside the remote and not necessary for starting the car. It's mainly my wife's car, so I don't want to keep a big remote on my key chain. So I'm wondering if it's possible to just get a regular transponder Key made which will work for starting the car and what not.

The basic answer is no. If your Outlander has the F.A.S.T. Keyless sytem then the fobs much be purchased from the dealer and programmed to your VIN. Hope this helps.
