The engine starts but only runs for a few seconds. Is there a security/safety issue with the computer/s? Do they need to be flashed for the replacement engine?

If the engines are the same engine family and it came out of the same year, make and model, then it should be fine. The problem is, if it was a different year, the injectors or ignition could possibly be different, but most times they will run, just not well.

So, all fuses good, everything hooked up, no open vacuum ports or missing parts?
How long did it sit? Bad fuel? Water in fuel? What's the fuel pressure when it dies?
So many things can cause a start and stall.
