I need help - Ford van won't start

I need some help. I started my van the other morning just fine and let it run while I cleaned the snow off. I got in it and turn the lights on and push on the gas and it died on me. I tried to start it again and I got nothing. So I let it sit for a few minutes and tried to start it again and it fired right up. When I turned my lights on to see if would drive it died on me. I have a brand new battery probably 4 months old. Never have had a problem with the van at all besides the battery.

What year?
Do you have a volt gauge on the dash? What does it read when you start it?
Depending on what year and engine, it could be a lot of things, like fuel filter plugging, cat plugging, bad alternator or broken wire at alternator.
