Where does this go

Had my car broken into and my ignition switch carved up was replacing it but I dont remember where this piece goes

    Is it a light bulb? It's fuzzy in the picture so I think it's glass? Was it a light that provided background lighting for a switch on the key lock, or a light for a switch plate on the panel near the steering column?

    What year and model Oldsmobile?
