2001 Acura MDX rearview mirror question

My rearview mirror in my mdx is messed up. Like the top 15% of it is completely normal and I can see fine but the bottom 85% is extremely dark and I can barley see out of it. It has a auto button under it but when I press it it doesn’t change anything. What caused this and is there a fix other than buying a new mirror that’s cheap? Thanks:)

    when the car is turned off (ignition off /key out) does it still have the problem
