Acceleration Issues? Power Loss?

Hey all!
Im looking to purchase a 07 350z HR from a buddy of mine, takes very good care of his cars, and it only has 46k miles. However, through driving it, I feel like there is something missing, it isn't as fast and quick as i think it should be, doesn't have the "put your head in the seat" power. I am relating this to my fathers 16 WRX that I drive occasionally, and it really isn't nearly as quick. Is this normal? Is there a setting on the vehicle that is holding back power? Mods include ARK exhaust and upgraded wheels.
