Volvo C70 Hardtop Malfunction

My hardtop will not fully close and I have a warning message and annoying alarm that will not stop. It is saying there is a malfunction and stop to avoid damage. Also says top not fully closed. It is the back of the car that is not latching. My mechanic thought it was the motor and replaced it and it still will not latch. Any advice on what could be the problem would be great.
