Sputter/Misfire
My 2004 Escape 160,000 miles, has off and on been sputtering/misfiring. The check engine light came on and my mechanic scanned it and said #3 ignition coil was causing a misfire. I changed the ignition coil on that cylinder only but it is still sputtering.
The check engine light is off now but it still sputters at idle and low speeds. I have checked all vacuum lines and found no leaks that I could see.
If it were any 1 of the other ignition coils the check engine light would come on so I am stumped. If I can't figure it out I'll take it back to the mechanic I just don't have the money right now for that.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
