When cold the gear does not change.

I have a Jaguar VDP 2002 with 96000 miles on it. Since last winter, when I start the car and put it in drive mode changing the gear from P to D is relatively hard. The car runs in first gear and does not change its gear. I have to move the gear liver to 3rd or 4th gear to drive. After 10 minutes of driving everything goes to normal and then the D mode function properly. This happens randomly sometimes and on other times everything is normal. There is no error code on the display. Do you know what’s happening?
