Element gear shifting - manual transmission
06 Honda Element MT, 245k miles, serviced every 3k. Today check engine light comes in and 30 minutes later while in 5th gear, it was as if it came out of gear. I shifted down to 4th and right back to 5th and went on just great. Did it again several minutes later. Also, the engine wouldn’t rev up rpm when it happened. No funny noises, smells, vibrations, or any other oddities. Had code checked and one was the Variable valve timing solenoid. Guy at Autozone said he worked on Honda’s for 10 years and said this was the problem. Anybody else had this kind of problem and can offer ideas?
