Brake light switch doesn't seem to be fixing the problem

I have a 2007 Toyota Rav 4. I have had the brake light switch replaced several times which my mechanic tells me is the reason for the brake and VSC dash lights to be on constantly. This means I do not have the traction control function and am also un able to use cruise control. The problem obviously has not been addressed. Do you know what else this could be?
