AC Switch LED won't go off

We just bought an immaculate 2004 Ford Focus SE in amazing condition, 149K miles, everything works. However, after having replaced the positive battery cable which was melted, the dash AC button LED would no longer go off and now the AC clutch won't go off. Any ideas?
