Honda Civic 2003 Hybrid CVT Transmission Issue

I have Civic Hybrid 2003 CVT having184k + miles on it. Some days back it started getting transmission issues. It was slipping earlier and one day it completely came at stop. Now it starts but as soon as gear in put into DRIVE it halts.
What could be issue? My mechanic says transmission issues but because of Hybrid (IMA battery) they are scared to diagnose. Any chance I can get help from Honda??

    i have the same issue but it cuts off when i put it in reverse. it jerks and just cuts off. but it starts up and runs just fine.
