my 1972 VW Bug starts fine, runs for apx. 1 min. shuts off. will restart and shuts off again.

    Will it start up again after it stalls? Sounds like you have spark and fuel, although it could be some kind of fuel supply issue. Poking around a bit online, seeing similar issues and owners talking about adjusting the carburetor. Also possible it's a fuel pump.
