Although highway miles per gallon are listed as 33, my 2011 was found to do even better at speeds well above 60 miles per hour. At nearly 75 miles per hour, the peak torque seems to be achieved and long trip road economy jumped to just shy of 40 miles per gallon. While most drivers of this vehicle tend to be frugal and stay at or below 65 miles per hour, the truth is that this car was, with it's diesel engine, designed to run the Autobahn at faster speeds and in an effort to achieve maximum MPG, should be driven like it was just stolen. Get those RPMS up and enjoy the economy and the ride!

This is true. Indeed, the MPG sweet spot of today's (German) cars is typically above 80. Though you can also overdo it … ;)
