Finalizing a Deal for Price

Ok so I went to a Hyundai dealership and found a car I really liked, 2016 Hyundai Elantra with 32,000 miles. Test drove the car fine, CarFax looks fine. I told them I just need to bring it to my mechanic before I sign or finalize anything and they agreed. My question though is the car salesman gave me the price for it at $11,000 when KBB & NADA both value the car in best condition between $9,000-$9630 (Clean Trade-In) when I told him the price seemed high he said that the Hyundai dealerships keep the prices set due to the condition or set value?? Something like that, I feel like I still have the opportunity to negotiate the price down beacuse I havent officially signed for anything. All I did was leave a $1500 deposit and circle the deposit amt on a sheet with the asked for price (sheet also stated at the bottom, *Not a contract) so how do I negotiate a little more off the top?

Reality is that KBB and similar don’t buy or sell cars, so their numbers aren’t necessarily gospel. You can also shop on auto trader or car gurus and see what similar cars are selling for.
