my honda has mild lifter noise a friend suggested using 10w30 oil any advise

Check your oil level. Also possible your oil pressure might be low.

The valves are adjustable.
Intakes should be .008-.009.
Exhausts should be .011-.013
A little noise from mechanical valve adjustment is normal, if they aren't making any noise at all they are too tight.
