Brake noise?

Prius brakes have begun to make a noise when applied lightly. Steady to hard braking produces no noise or pull. More of a noise (knock?) than a vibration. Not a squeal or grind. I do not feel it in pedal or steering wheel. Car just passed NYS inspection! Would warped rotor make the noise and still pass inspection? Could it be related to ABS system? The sound does have that same rhythm to the sound that ABS produces when working. Thanks
