Sputtering and Stalling

I have a 2011 Chevy Equinox that has engine problems which are very concerning (diesel-like start, rough idle, stalling, etc). I have received several diagnostics, and they have yet to "duplicate" the problem. The "problem" resulted in me and my 3 children being stalled on a major highway. What do you do when the mechanic can not "duplicate" the problem? I'm terrified to drive the vehicle, and I am scared to take my children around in it. Should I contact GM about a recall? What are my legal rights in this situation? Can someone please help. Accident waiting to happen

I have a 2014 Equinox w/2.4 engine. I regularly research symptoms and solutions. The most common repair for your issue is a "camshaft position actuator." I believe it is a simple plug in device on top side of engine. I would also replace spark plugs every 50,000 miles. Change oil every 4000 miles to slow down the internal engine problems the 2011's had. Good luck.

I have a 2011 Chevy Equinox. I just bought it. When I stop at stop signs or red lights, the vehicle rocks back and forth like it's trying to go. It's very loud when I push the gas and the engine will shut off randomly. It was only shutting off when the vehicle was stopped but recently has started shutting off whenever it feels like it... Very scary when you're going 80 on the highway. I replaced 2 sparkplugs and the camshaft pressure sensor

I just bought a 2011 Chevy Equinox. When I stop at red lights or stop signs the vehicle rocks back and forth like it's still trying to go. When I press the gas, the vehicle becomes louder. And it the engine will shut down at any time. I replaced 2 sparkplugs and the camshaft pressure sensor... It didn't help. The only thing it did was make it so it didn't start up as hard as it was. I am extremely lost on what to do with this car. Today the vehicle shut down and it wouldn't turn over. It took a good 6 tries before it started again. I am at a complete loss. Does anyone have any ideas?!

Without knowing vehicles past history of problems, mileage, etc it is difficult to accurately diagnose issues. Worse case scenario is the engine has the internal engine problems like timing chain about ready to go. Engine warn out from running low on oil due to excessive oil consumption. I would check with GM on recalls and customer service assistance on these issues. With the history of major problems on the 2010 to 2012's I would definitely contact the GM hotline/helpline to see what assistance is available. After going thru some class action lawsuits GM has agreed to assist with these issues. Good luck.

Some auto parts store can pull the trouble codes for free.
