Transmission question - Isuzu Trooper

Transmission repair shop is having trouble sourcing parts for my '95 Trooper LS. A friend has a couple of them from '87, but they are 4 cylinder engines, and he's not sure if the transmissions are interchangable with my 6 cylinder engine. Can anyone clarify? Please!
