has anyone had emergency flashers operate randomly...seems associated with damp weather?

Bought this 2003 GMC 2500 HD XLT new...been garage kept and serviced regularly...has just over 69K miles.
The random flasher problem sometimes goes away but too often I have to pull the fuse which also controls the directional signals...not a safe choice.

    Associated with wet weather makes me think a short needs to be tracked down
