What is the funny whining noise which happens only when i press the gas pedal.?

there is no warning lights on at all,no leaks anywhere.the car seems to run perfectly normal.the noise is kind of like when your power steering fluid is low.a whining sound that gets louder when i accelerate.alternator seems fine as no lights are on and it is charging ok.i really hope someone has had this issue happen.any help would be great.

Could it be belt/pulley noise since it changes when you step on the gas? A bad bearing in a pulley can make some odd noises. A whine would not be out of the question
