Service 4 Wheel drive, stability control disengage warning, no lit lights on 4wheel drive selector

I have a 2006 suburban and the lights above have been on for a few weeks. I read in some forum that it was the transfer case position sensor. I ordered one and for the life of me I can not find that forum again. I have googled how to change it with no luck. All it comes back with us changing the transfer case motor. I asked my mechanic about it and he said he has never heard if one. Can someone help me??
