MTX-49 H8 for my Jeep?

Hello all.
At interstate, they recommended the above battery for my 2014 Grand Cherokee Altitude. A mechanic close by installed it but told me the battery I got was a bit too long. He said the one I was replacing was H7 group (about 2 inches shorter). Mechanic said I could still use the H8 I bought. The only thing was that there was not enough room for the plate that keeps it in place but that this did not really matter as the weight of the battery would keep it still.

All good. BUT, when I am at a red light on D mode and the car is still the engine now vibrates a bit more. As if it needs to be running more rpm's when iddle.

I have zero experience in car mechanics and zero knowledge. Anybody offering their perspective will help a lot. Thank you!

Using an H8 or a larger battery should not cause any vibration, but you need to use a proper hold-down bracket. You can get this bracket at the dealer or from online shops that sell aftermarket jeep accessories.

About the vibration issue, check your motor mounts and trans mounts.

I have the bracket. The installer of the battery said he could not use the original bracket because the larger H8 left no spare room. He said the H8 was about 2 inches longer than the H7. Maybe he was just being lazy because of the uncomfortable cabin hideout for the batter?

The battery required for your car is very specific. The compartment for it is designed to allow for two batteries to be in there when the car is equipped with a Start/Stop system. A longer battery will cover up the only battery hold down bolt hole. The "installer" wasn't being lazy, the design just doesn't allow for a different battery.
