Transmission no shift after 28

my trans has the first 2 shifts no problem/no slipping /no hard shift plenty of power but stopped shifting into hi gear---red fluid-no metal in pan/

What year and model? Regular automatic I assume? Could be a shift solenoid issue

It could rule out low fluid level or a plugged transmission fluid filter. It is also internal hydraulic leaks in the valve body or failing internal transmission seals found on clutch pack pistons and piston o-rings.
