Not Sure Of the Problem

My 08 Scion has suddenly started a new sound. When you accelerate the gas pedal then take your foot off of it and let the car coast, it has a sound kind of like when u put a card in bike spokes..i can feel it under my feet on the floor board. It was suggested that the issue might be the chain in the transfer case and that it is now loose. It doesn't make the sound when i accelerate which tightens the chain but the sound happens when their is no pressure on it. Has anyone had this problem?? This is really annoying. Thank you in advance.

Could be coming from a CV joint on a front axle. Does it sound like this?

Usually the sound is associated with turning, but when I had this happen on a car it was sort of like you described. Under load, when accelerating, no noise. But when I'd let off the gas, there it was

Definitely not the cv axles as I have just replaced them . It’s coming from what sounds like maybe the center of the car but underneath. The sound also stops when coasting at about a speed of 20 mph.. So anything faster will trigger whatever the issue is. I’m still driving the car but am now worried that I will make the problem worse.
