Can running a 4.10 shorten the life of the motor since it’s always running at a higher rpm?

Ive got a 99 Silverado with the 5.3. I just got the thing and I’m trying to learn all I can.

    Not really. With overdrive transmissions the engine speed on the highway isn't significantly different. There are other factors that will have a much greater impact on engine life, the biggest of which is maintanence.
