cruise control issues

Cruise control will turn itself off arbitrarily, after 1/2 hour to an hour. Like a heat fuse pops. Will not come back on for quite a while. (hour or so later). Another time it goes on for a mile or two and does the same thing without having done anything to it. I'm not sure of wiring; something is overheating but i am not sure what.

Scan data in the engine controller will display what commanded the cruise to turn off the last time that it did.
