fuel problem somewhere

okay so a few weeks ago i am driving down the road going 40 MPH and all the sudden my 1988 Dakota just shuts off on me i have never let the truck get under a half tank of gas its always been either half a tank or more and a couple days after i got it towed to my home i then srated to notice that my truck was leaking gas i have no idea where at because you cant see it unless you take the bed of the truck all the way off it . is there anyway that this could be a simple fix . and if so how ? please help meee
