Lift kits, blown shocks, weak springs - this is the place to make your B-truck hold up the load

Do you have any suggestions for front end repairs? I bought the Haynes manual to change the tie rods and balljoints on my 94 B3000. It says not to use a pickle fork, but some special tool, which it does not describe. Could it be a compressor like a Pitman arm tool? I just want to go back with simple repairs because I may not keep the truck all that long. Thanx.
